NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Breathing new life into a fan favorite five decades after its original release, GRAMMY-winning sibling trio The Archers present a fresh rendition of their career-defining single “It Wouldn’t Be Enough.” Releasing June 27 from New Day Christian Distributors, the reimagined live track—showcasing the tenderly emotive lead vocals of Janice Archer Cruse—opens with a gentle pop groove that gives way to an impassioned, worshipful chorus.

Following its original release, “It Wouldn’t Be Enough” became a hit at both Christian and Southern Gospel radio for The Archers, who were among the leaders of the Jesus Music movement and pioneers of the emerging Contemporary Christian music scene of the 1970s. Penned by Don Aldridge, the genre-spanning single is one of multiple standout tracks on the trio’s 1975 Light Records debut, Things We Deeply Feel—a project boasting such top Hollywood studio players as Leland Sklar (bass), Toto’s David Paich (keys) and Hal Blaine (drums).

“‘It Wouldn't be Enough’ is definitely the breakout song of our career,” states Tim Archer. “Its success led to a dramatic increase in bookings and appearances for us, multiplying our ability to share the redemptive message of the shed blood of Christ and what He did for us on the cross. It has always been a concert anchor and a fan favorite, and to this day, it is our most requested song.”

“Our cousin, Don Aldridge, was far away from God and ‘It Wouldn't Be Enough’ was the very first song he wrote after he gave his life to Jesus—and what a song it still is today,” says Janice Archer Cruse. “It’s an honor and privilege to sing these lyrics and tell all who listen, once more, what Jesus did for us. His sacrifice on the cross and His blood shed means we never have to pay the price for our sins because He covered it all, once and for all! No matter what we ever do or don't do in this life, He established our worth and our value in that moment. This is one of the greatest messages any Gospel singer could ever sing.”

“I'm hoping when people hear ‘It Wouldn't Be Enough,’ it will remind them of the incredible value of Jesus' sacrifice for our salvation and freedom,” adds Steve Archer. “At times in our society we are consumed by want and we are willing to pay a great price for material things. The greatest wealth we could accumulate would not be enough to purchase a single drop of blood that Jesus shed for our salvation! The song reminds me to have a spirit of thankfulness and gratitude.”

“It Wouldn’t Be Enough” arrives on the heels of The Archers’ “Legacy Medley,” which released in April and highlights five of the group’s greatest hits. Both tracks will be featured on The Archers’ highly anticipated full-length 50th anniversary recording, Legacy Live, which is slated for release later this year. Produced by Tim and Cynthia Archer and co-produced by Steve Archer, Michael Blanton and Janice Archer Cruse, Legacy Live is poised to propel the group’s captivating familial harmonies and genre-defining pop sound back to the forefront for a new generation.

ABOUT THE ARCHERS
Comprised of siblings Tim Archer, Steve Archer and Janice Archer Cruse, The Archers quickly rose to international acclaim for their signature harmonies, cutting-edge pop production and commitment to proclaiming the Gospel. Pioneers of the Jesus Music movement of the 1970s, The Archers were the first artist to record Andraé Crouch’s “Jesus Is The Answer,” a genre-defining anthem beloved around the world. Their celebrated discography—which has amassed sales in excess of a million units—also includes such classics as “It Wouldn’t Be Enough”; “Fresh Surrender”; “Pickin’ Up The Pieces”; and “Make Me An Instrument.”

The Archers garnered a 1981 GRAMMY Award for Best Gospel Performance, Contemporary or Inspirational for their contribution to the Reba Rambo and Dony McGuire album The Lord’s Prayer. In addition, the trio made history as one of the first Christian artists ever to perform at the GRAMMY Awards, taking the stage in both 1981 and 1982 during the nationally televised broadcast.

Along with landmark appearances on The Mike Douglas Show and The Jerry Lewis Telethon, The Archers sold out Hollywood’s Universal Amphitheatre; were invited by President Jimmy Carter to perform at The White House; toured with beloved entertainers Pat Boone, Andraé Crouch, The Oak Ridge Boys, and BJ Thomas; and headlined concerts at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and the LA Coliseum, among many other leading venues. As Contemporary Christian genre leaders, the group performed at the historic EXPLO '72 in Dallas, and by 1975 The Archers had appeared at nearly every significant Jesus festival in North America and had toured extensively in Europe.
