NASHVILLE (June 27, 2025) — Jordan Smith, the soaring vocalist who first captivated America as the Season 9 winner of The Voice, is set to bring his most personal project to living rooms everywhere. A brand-new DVD edition of The People’s Hymnal, recorded live at Bill Gaither’s studio in Alexandria, Indiana, is available for pre-order starting today, June 27. The DVD will officially be released on July 25, with television airings slated for that weekend, followed by availability on GaitherTV+. The People’s Hymnal DVD features songs from the album of the same name — a dynamic collection of Gospel standards that reimagines beloved hymns with contemporary artistry, bridging the sacred and the soulful. A decade after winning The Voice, Smith says this collection is the most honest expression of who he is as both an artist and a believer. “I made this record for myself,” Smith says. “This time, the only concern was, ‘How would Jordan Smith sing this song?’ You can hear the freedom and joy in it.”
The People’s Hymnal DVD captures the spiritual power and emotional depth of the original studio album, now enhanced with an intimate visual performance that showcases Smith’s remarkable vocal range and moving storytelling. Fans can expect live renditions of gospel classics like “Oh Happy Day,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “His Eye Is On The Sparrow,” as well as brand-new bonus tracks available exclusively on the DVD and TV special: “It Is Well,” “I'd Rather Have Jesus,” and “It Is Well with My Soul.”
The studio album, co-produced by GRAMMY-winning songwriter and producer Tommy Sims and award-winning musician Colin Linden, reimagines beloved hymns with a blend of gospel, soul, and pop. The result is a dynamic, uplifting collection that bridges the traditional and the contemporary — a bold step forward in Smith’s evolution as a vocalist and worship leader.
