New York, NY – (March 6, 2026) – IDEGO (pronounced “id” and “ego”) recently released a song with conviction to not only be a form of Worship but also to reach the ears of everyone for his debut into the Christian music scene. His talent has been recognized by tastemaker site Rapzilla, who has added IDEGO to their 2026 Freshman Class alongside the release of his video “Pray Some,” which premiered on Jesus Freak Hideout, and new single “SHOCKING!.”
On his induction, IDEGO states, “To me, being named as a part of the 2026 Rapzilla Freshmen shows me that I'm doing the right thing. It is incredibly validating to be a part of a class with many of these talented artists. And it is almost a "God wink" that I get to be in the class with two of my close friends, Peair and Yakithekid. The title of Rapzilla Freshmen is something I consider a great honor, as it has also been held by notable names like KB, Andy Mineo, nobiddyl., and WHATUPRG who are all inspirations of mine.”
IDEGO delivers bars of conviction, impressing upon the value of staying prayed up through all of life’s adversities. On “SHOCKING!,” IDEGO explores how, even when temptations come our way, we can still be redeemed—and that truth changes how we respond. Through scenes of pursuit and pressure, the lyrics reflect that when fear fades, confidence returns, and what once surrounded him is forced to step back. IDEGO blends rap, phonk, and EDM to create a fun, dynamic journey while exploring abstract themes.
The Nashville-born musician is slowly carving a niche for himself in a space where both strong faith and formidable skills can co-exist. IDEGO is ready to show the world just how far he can go with a little bit of gumption and a whole lot of talent. The origin of how he got the name IDEGO is explained by him: “I was in AP Psychology Junior year of high school and we were learning about the concept of the Id and the Ego, the Id being the instinctual desires of the flesh and the Ego being the opposite, more of your conscious. I thought the idea of having these two sides of yourself, so I slapped both words together, and that’s how I got IDEGO.”
Growing up in Nashville, music was everywhere for IDEGO, even under his own roof. His father managed bands and was instrumental in the early days of TobyMac’s Gotee Records, working with artists like GRITS and Relient K, while his mother worked in product development and branding for bands. Christian music was a staple in their household, though so was secular music. “One band that my family really liked was like Twenty One Pilots,” he remembers. “But then as I got older, I started listening to my own music, and started listening to a lot of rap.” From Kanye West to J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, IDEGO began drawing creativity both as a lyricist and producer.
He also turned to niche scenes like underground Hip-Hop and rage rap for inspiration. His own skills on the mic became evident, though at the time production was at the forefront of his creative endeavors. By the time IDEGO reached college at Birmingham’s Samford University, his desire to pursue a career in music was crystallized. “I majored in Commercial Music with a concentration in Production,” he explains. “And then a Marketing minor, just to keep my options open.” While in school, he began producing for Christian underground artists like Peair and A3, slowly building his momentum, networking at festivals like Holy Smoke! He released a production project last summer “as an experiment to self-market,” though something shifted where he began writing rhymes over his own beats. “I kind of fell in love with it,” he admits. “That's when I decided I wanted to be an artist.”
IDEGO states, “For me, the art I make is a form of worship. I wanted to pave a way forward where people can like my music outside of the Christian world, just purely because it sounds good.”
