Captured before a live audience in Atlanta, the performance builds into one of the most moving moments yet revealed from TASHA UNSCRIPTED. Cobbs Leonard and Johnson trade soaring vocals as the song gradually moves beyond performance and into something more intimate and unguarded. By its final stretch, Johnson is overcome with emotion, dropping down and eventually sitting on the stage as she continues to sing, while Cobbs Leonard stays with her in the moment and every person in the room rises to their feet.
The nearly 13-minute video preserves all of it. Rather than cutting away from the vulnerability of the moment, the cameras stay close as Johnson sings from the floor of the stage and Cobbs Leonard responds beside her, surrounded by a room completely locked into what is happening. It is the kind of spontaneous, deeply felt exchange at the heart of the entire TASHA UNSCRIPTED project.
"You Know My Name" offers another glimpse into a project built around leaving room for the unexpected. Recorded live in Atlanta earlier this year, the 34-track TASHA UNSCRIPTED brings Cobbs Leonard back to the environment where so much of her defining work has been created: a room full of people, songs allowed to stretch beyond their original form, and moments that could never be recreated exactly the same way twice.
The album reunites Cobbs Leonard with songs that have become cornerstones of contemporary worship while introducing new music and fresh collaborations. Previous previews include "Final Say (Live)" and "Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live)" featuring Israel Houghton, each highlighting the freedom and spontaneity that define the new collection.
The album arrives during a milestone season for Cobbs Leonard. Last weekend, she received the prestigious Aretha Franklin Icon Award during the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards broadcast on BET, recognizing her career and lasting impact on gospel music. The televised celebration included a career-spanning video package and a tribute medley comprised entirely of songs from her catalog, with Melvin Crispell III performing "For Your Glory," Maranda Curtis performing "Fill Me Up," Bishop William Murphy taking on "Break Every Chain," and Kierra Sheard delivering "Put A Praise On It." The four artists then came together for a praise break before Cobbs Leonard delivered an emotional acceptance speech.
One week after today's release, Cobbs Leonard will take the spirit of TASHA UNSCRIPTED directly to audiences with the TASHA UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR, beginning September 11 in Charlotte, NC, with a sold-out opening night. Built to feel less like a traditional concert and more like an intimate live worship experience, the tour will draw from Cobbs Leonard's expansive catalog alongside music from TASHA UNSCRIPTED, storytelling and space for each evening to unfold differently.
