02. Set Free

Peace Be Still
by Hope Darst

Here I surrender lay down every weight
Remember Your love has broken all my chains
What You have finished, cannot be undone
The work of the cross was more than enough

I’ve been set free
I’ve been set free
Sin has no hold
Shame has no power over me
Found in Your mercy
I’ve been washed clean
You call me whole, saved and redeemed
I’ve been set free

There is a promise written is Your scars
I am forgiven, changed by who You are
What you have finished, I will not forget
I’m buried with Christ
I’m raised from the dead

I’ve been set free
I’ve been set free
Sin has no hold
Shame has no power over me
Found in Your mercy
I’ve been washed clean
You call me whole, saved and redeemed
I’ve been set free

No longer bound in chains
No longer blind I see
This is amazing grace Jesus alive in me
No longer bound in chains
No longer blind (now) I see
This is amazing grace
Jesus alive in me
No longer bound in chains
No longer blind I see
This is amazing grace
Jesus alive in me

(Oh) I’ve been set free
(Oh) I’ve been set free
Sin has no hold
Shame has no power (no power) over me
Found in Your mercy
(Oh) I’ve been washed clean
You call me whole, saved and redeemed
I’ve been set free

(Yes) You call me whole, saved and redeemed
I’ve been set free

Behind the Song:
"This song is all about reminding us that no matter what we’ve done, what we’ve been through or what we might think about ourselves, Jesus calls us free. We are not prisoners to our past, shame, fear, or any other chain that wants to lock us up. I first started writing this song after hearing a dear friend share his testimony of being set free from years of shame due to his past. As he spoke, I just kept thinking how powerful it would be to have a worship song that people can declare “I’ve been set free”. I hope when people hear this song, they are able to believe that God’s mercy has washed them clean - no matter what they’ve done, no matter what lies they have believed about themself. The truth is that we are new creations in Christ and our past is gone. The death and resurrection of Christ was and is enough to break every chain, open every eye, and heal every heart. We have been given a name and a new story because of the cross - we are whole, saved, and redeemed." - Hope Darst

Galatians 5:1 (TPT) “Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free - not partially, but completely and wonderfully free..”

John 8:36 (NLT) “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”
