My shattered soul - a clanging gong - like fragments in a jar
Will leave the good - and seek the wrong - and pick at prior scars

My arms reclaim - the heavy load - that Grace had placed on Him
My legs retrace - the wayward road - that seeks my every whim

How can I rail against the gates of hell
when I can't defeat the evil in myself

Yet still this Savior fights for me
cancelling the debt of my iniquity
Pierced by the scales of justice to set me free
oh my God help me believe

The fog of war - a creeping doubt - lays siege upon my soul
I yield again - without a shout - capitulate control

How can I rail against the gates of hell
when I can't defeat the evil in myself

Yet still this Savior fights for me
cancelling the debt of my iniquity
Pierced by the scales of justice to set me free
oh my God help me believe

How can I rail against the gates of hell
when I can't defeat the evil in myself
How can I stand before Your holy throne
Replace my filthy rags with righteousness Your own

Yet still this Savior fights for me
cancelling the debt of my iniquity
Crushed by the law of justice to set me free
oh my God help me believe

Yes this Savior fought for me
hanging in my place up on Calvary
and by His grace gave his righteousness to me
(and all who would believe)
oh my God help me believe
