Arriving with nothing
But a burden that I just never seem to shake;
I come to the river,
where I feel that burden’s strings start to break.
And I plunge beneath the water
Where I feel myself float free from the weight.

I was told there was joy like a fountain
As a youngin’ when I went to Sunday School;
But never did I know that precious feeling
’Til I dipped into that pool.

Soaked in the love and promises that set me free.

I came through the thicket
Where the thorns and thistles tried to choke my soul;
But I found that there’s a clearing,
And not a minute too soon,
‘Cause the jungle took its toll.
