“On every album I do, I want to offer a hopeful song that’s geared toward people who’ve been abused in one way or another. Every abused person I’ve ever met harbors a sense of hopelessness. They feel like they’re damaged goods, or they don’t feel they’re good enough, or they think they deserve what they’ve gotten. What they don’t realize is that there are so many who have been there too, and that it’s not their fault that somebody yelled at them, or hit them, or touched them. I hope that this songs says, ‘If you’ve been there, you know what I’m talking about.
