"This song deals with depression. It is written from God's perspective as he looks down on his hurting children. The chorus uses darkness to describe how depression leaves you alone and feeling worthless. Then God reassures us that He is still there and will always be there. At times in our lives, we all feel alone and distant from God or any form of love.
