New UK worship collaboration, Boundless, has released their rousing new single ‘This Is The Day’ in time for Pentecost Sunday (8 June). The song focuses on the need toconnect Sunday worship to everyday life and is part of Boundless’ debut EP in partnership with the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) and Integrity Music.
Written and performed by some of the UK's leading worship singers, including Philippa Hanna, Noel Robinson, Laura Goldthorp, Andy Flannagan, and Joel Payne, along with LICC theologian Dave Benson, the track will be launched as part of the national Thy Kingdom Come prayer movement.
Inspired by Colossians 3:17 and LICC’s message that you can join in God’s mission ‘whatever you do, wherever you are, whoever you are’, ‘This Is The Day’ invites Christians to consecrate every moment of each day as an act of worship.
Drawing deeply from the Old and New Testament and the lives and prayers of Christians down the ages, the song celebrates God’s presence not only in sacred spaces but in the everyday and seemingly mundane.
Singer and songwriter Philippa Hanna said, “There’s something about committing our day to the Lord each morning that helps invite His peace into all we do.We’re used to welcoming God’s presence in the church building, but it’s just as important to welcome Him onto the school run, the bus route and into the workplace! Doing so helps to frame our lives as worshippers and followers of Jesus. ‘This Is The Day’ is a perfect song to help create that space.”
Fellow singer-songwriter Andy Flannagan said, “You can't change a culture until you change its language. These songs can give the church a new vocabulary that will resonate in believers through their Monday to Friday, leading them to partner with the God who is at work in their schools, streets, factories and farms.”
'This Is The Day' was born during a 2024 songwriting camp hosted by LICC and Integrity Music, where artists and theologians from across the UK collaborated to create new songs about living out our faith each day. The result is a song grounded in the truths of Christianity and bursting with joy.
The song starts by recognising the work of God in all things:
“God of beginning, the middle and end
Open my eyes to the work of Your hands
It’s in everything”
And by the chorus we are reminded that we are co-workers and co-creators with Him:
“This is the day You have made; may the work of my hands be Your praise. This is the life You have given me, so I will keep running, oh I will keep running the race.”
To mark its release, churches across the UK are being invited to sing ‘This Is The Day’ on Pentecost Sunday. By incorporating the song into their Pentecost services, churches will be praying for God’s kingdom to come in all areas of life including places of work, schools, parks, hospitals and care homes.
